The
Ring ceremony is a brief ritual where Amit
and Aastha will exchanges their engagement
rings. This is followed by exchange of gifts
between the families like sweets, dry fruits
etc. The Mehndi Ceremony for Aastha will
start after the Ring Ceremony and will
continue into the night.

Mehndi ceremony is being
organized by the family of the bride and is a
private affair which will take place in the presence
of friends, relatives and family members.
At first turmeric paste is
applied on bride's face, feet and hands. After this,
the Mehndi application begins. Mehndi is applied on
the bride's hands, arms, feet and legs.
Traditionally, the Mehndi applied to the bride is
obtained by drying the leaves of the Henna plant.

Sagan is begun with a
religious ceremony where the priest and the
grooms family sit with the brides family to
offer their prayers for
a
happy union. After
this the bride is brought out and is given
gifts by the mother of the groom.
The
Brides family then acknowledges their
respect for the groom's family by
distributing gifts to his extended family
members.
This will be
followed by drinks and music and a
whole lot of merriment.

The Seven Pheras (Circumambulations)
Together around the holy fire (Agni) The
bride and groom walk 7 Pheras together to
signify the beginning of their journey
through life
- The 1st Phera vowing to keep a pure
household; avoiding things injurious to
our health.
- The 2nd Phera vowing to develop
mental, physical, and spiritual powers.
- The 3rd Phera with the aim of
increasing our wealth by righteous
means.
- The 4th Phera to acquire knowledge,
happiness, and harmony by mutual love
and trust.
- The 5th Phera to pray for virtuous,
intelligent, and courageous children.
- The 6th Phera is for longevity.
- The 7th Phera to vow
that we will always remain true
companions and life-long friends.
Having
exchanged these vows of love, duty,
respect, fidelity and a fruitful union
the couple agree to be companions
forever. |

Reception ceremony
will be
celebrated just after the main wedding day.
It is the first public appearance of the
newly wed couple after their marriage. The
reception is organized by the family
of the groom and is a grand party.
The friends and associates mainly from the
groom side and close family members from the
bride's side will attend this ceremony.
This is a celebration time for both the
families as we rejoice over our new
accord.
